2024 Spring Registration

With the New Year upon us the South Simcoe Ball Hockey League is happy to announce that registration for the upcoming spring 2024 season is now open.

Registration was available to 2023 spring & summer members for the month of December therefore we only have a limited number of spots remaining.

We will continue to offer a local league ball hockey experience.

There are no residency rules in place therefore you may register where the schedule suits you best.

  • Barrie – Thursday Evenings (Eastview Arena, East Bayfield Arena)
  • Bradford – Tuesday Evenings (Bradford District Community Centre)
  • Essa – Thursday Evenings (Thornton Arena)
  • Innisfil – Sunday (Innisfil Rec Centre, Stroud Arena)

Please note that when selecting a home centre, you are agreeing to playing 80% of your regular season games on the day and arena’s you’ve selected. The remaining 20% of regular season games you’d travel to the opposing centre on their day of play and arenas. This could be a maximum of 3 travel games.

We are offering the following divisions.

  • U6 – Innisfil (2018-2019)
  • U6 – Barrie (2018-2019)
  • U8 – (2016-2017)
  • U10 – (2014-2015)
  • U12 – (2012-2013)
  • U14 – (2010-2011)
  • U16 – (2008-2009)
  • U18 – (2006-2007)

Unfortunately to ensure we meet requirements with our equalization policy we do not offer friend requests. In early April all players will be assessed through evaluations and drafted onto teams by our selected coaches. Siblings registered in the same divisions will be placed on the same team.

The season will commence on April 16th and end on June 23rd however this year we have changed our championship weekend from a 3-day double elimination bracket tournament to a 4-day triple elimination tournament beginning on June 20th.

Fees for our:

  • U6 (Learn to Play) division - $130 per player (includes t-shirt style jersey and baseball cap)
  • U8 through U18 divisions - $230 per player (includes full sublimated uniforms)

Included with the registration are the following:

  • Membership fees
  • Player insurance
  • Online statistics
  • Weekly and year end awards
  • Championship day tournament (minimum 3 games)
  • Pizza, snacks and drinks on final day.

Registration will remain open until a division is full.

We are currently at 85% capacity however later next week we hope to have additional floor time open up in Innisfil and Barrie. This will reduce our capacity to roughly 70%.

If this is the case every team would play a maximum of three games in Alliston. New Tec plays also plays its fall season games on a Saturday therefore Saturday would be the only day of play. (One game per week)

Registration will remain open until 7pm on October 14th however because of the limited availability we anticipate some divisions may close much sooner than our posted deadline.

Registration Fees, $210 per player and includes a fully sublimated jersey.

Selected participants will represent South Simcoe in the 2023 Winter Provincials held Feb 16 to 18 in Alliston ON

2022 Season Update

Every year the South Simcoe Ball Hockey League thrives to meet previous season registration numbers with always the hope for growth.

After being away for two years with COVID restrictions our league along with many others find themselves in a decline. The reason for this remains unknown but after discussing with several nearby sports its seems that this expands outside of ball hockey as well.

The season is set to begin on May 1st and some of our divisions may begin with smaller rosters than where we would like to see them. Please note that every team will have enough uniforms to have a full roster therefore if you have a friend that would like to join the team after we get started, they can do so by registering online and notifying the league on which team they would like to join.

Because of the decline in less registered players the league had no choice but to change its schedule format from 80% home games to 70%

Innisfil will continue to play Sunday’s, Bradford on Tuesday’s and Barrie on Thursday’s

Schedules are posted online and will be accessible from the TeamLinkt app once your child is place on a team.

Most children have been placed on teams for the exception of Innisfil players registered in the U8, U10 & U12 divisions.

We hope to have this done later this week.

We were told that our uniforms would arrive for opening day however after discussing with our supplier overseas they believe that there could be a delay with shipping due to the ongoing war happening in the Ukraine.

The league does have a backup plan if these problems should arise to get us through the first couple of games.

Provincial try-outs this year will begin in late May however due to the lack of available floor time it could be possible that these would take place in Innisfil on a Wednesday or Friday evening. We should have information regarding this once the season gets going.

Please ensure that all players are equipped with proper equipment. This includes a hockey helmet with full facial cage, hockey gloves, soccer style shin guards, running shoes and a hockey stick with no plastic blade. A failure to have any of the above-mentioned items will have the player sidelined until he/she can provide all mandatory equipment.

Lastly and most importantly

The South Simcoe Ball Hockey Leagues still requires coaches in the following areas:

  • U10 – Bradford
  • U12 – Innisfil
  • U14 – Barrie
  • U17 – Innisfil

Until these voluntary positions are taken, we cannot proceed to move forward. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Player Evaluations

The following players will be attending the player evaluations at the Thornton Arena on Tuesday April 23rd.

Please ensure all players come with proper equipment. This includes a Hockey Stick, Soccer or Ball Hockey Shin Guards, Helmet with full facial cage, Hockey Gloves and Running Shoes.

Upon arrival children will be assigned pinnies, go through a few basic rules followed by a scrimmage for 35/40 minutes as coaches and volunteers evaluate the players.

Coaching Incentive

Ball Hockey is a sport that requires many volunteers however as the league continues to grow we want to ensure that all our teams are equipped with certified head coaches. This will ensure that all our players have equal opportunity when it comes to leadership behind the bench.

The league will still accept applications from anyone wishing to coach however only those that are certified will receive first opportunity to take on a team and benefit from this cash incentive.

Player fees must be paid in full upon registration however those selected to coach the 2019 season will receive a refund of $80 once the season gets on it way.

If you are interested in applying for a coaching position please click here

Thank You

Early Bird Registration

Start making your plans now for the 2019 ball hockey season. Register by December 26 to take advantage of early-bird savings of $40.

This year we have made a few changes and registration will close on April 1st. This will allow us to have all members come out for player evaluation to ensure teams are balanced properly.

When registering you have a choice on where to play your home games. (Barrie, Bradford or Innisfil) Please note that your registration fees cover only the home games and that all travel games are free of charge. So if by chance you cannot attend one of the travel games because of conflict with another sport or activity you won’t be losing out.

  • Barrie – Tuesday’s and Thursday’s (depending on division)
  • Bradford – Tuesday’s
  • Innisfil – Sunday’s

(More info regarding days and times to be posted in the New Year)

The season will run from mid-April to late-June.

We will be offering incentives for those wishing to register as full time goalies and certified ice hockey coaches willing to take on a team. Information regarding this will be posted in the New Year after our board meeting on January 7th.

At this time payments can be sent by cheque or etransfer. An email will be sent out to you with further instructions after registering. If you don’t receive an email please contact our administrator Jennifer at This email address is being protected from spambots. Team Info / Schedules

Attention to all registered members in Barrie, Bradford, Georgina and Innisfil leagues. At this time we ask that everyone remains patient, as the board will be gathering together on April 5, 6, 9 & 10 to begin its team building process.

All coaches should have their team rosters in hand by April 16th to which you will be contacted shortly after. Please ensure that around this time you check Junk/Spam folders regularly. In the meanwhile we ask that parents ensure that their children have all the proper equipment to get started.

  • Hockey helmet with full facial cage
  • Hockey gloves
  • Soccer shin guards
  • Hockey stick (wood or composite only)
  • Running shoes

If any of these items are missing the referees will not allow the children to play.

Schedules are currently posted online but remain tentative until all league fees are paid in full.

Failure to submit a payment could change the entire schedule for all divisions.

(Example) Novice Division in South Simcoe is structured for 7 teams but if 15 players remain unpaid it will change to 6 teams therefore changing times for all other divisions.

If you still have a pending payment we ask that you submit an etransfer to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and use the password ballhockey2018.
