2016 Indoor Minor Ball Hockey

The 2016 season is in preparations and the league has some exciting news to share.

In the last few weeks of the 2015 season heading into the provincial tournaments we recruited 3 individuals to join our team to gather sponsorships. Since then our team has already achieved our half way goal of $7000.00.

Our goal and mission is to offer the parents of South Simcoe the cheapest opportunity to play ball hockey without cutting back on the services provided.

We will remain members of the OBHF (Ontario Ball Hockey Federation) and are the only league in South Simcoe region recognized by Hockey Canada.  The OBHF remains members of the CBHA (Canadian Ball Hockey Association) and is the only govern body of the sport in Ontario.

We have currently changed our name to the South Simcoe Ball Hockey Leagues and offer leagues to children in the Bradford, Innisfil and Barrie areas.

In regards to our uniforms, we just struck a deal with a supplier that will offer a new and improved uniform. You can now expect a very light 2-color sublimated jersey with a 3-color logo’s, shorts and matching socks.  Please view the sizing chart before you register as you now have the option to select your size and a choice of 3 jersey numbers while registering.

Ed Plodinec has been rehired as our photographer for the second consecutive year as his ability to capture the children’s smile is one of a kind

If we achieve or even exceed our sponsorship goals you can expect for all children and their families to enjoy BBQ on our championship day. There will be no additional cost for parents as we did in the past.

The season will consist of a 9 game season with your final 4 games played as a tournament with all teams registered within the South Simcoe Ball Hockey Leagues.

For more information such as divisions offered, days of play and fees regarding each individual league please click here.

Online registration is currently open and early bird fees will continue until January 1st.  If you choose pay by cheque you also have the option of sending an etransfer to This email address is being protected from spambots. In person registration dates will be available in late December.

We are always seeking for more individuals to join our team. These are paid positions based on commission.  This is a good way of earning some extra cash for the holiday season.

We will also continue to accept High School students for their volunteer hours. Once their hours have been completed if they choose to stay it will become a paid position for the remainder of the season.

SSBHL Recruiting Officials

A new season of Ball Hockey is quickly approaching and there is a requirement that all officials must be registered and certified in order to referee in any OBHF sanctioned league.

SSBHL are members of OBHF

The South Simcoe Ball Hockey Leagues is pleased to announce the recent partnership and alliance with our new Provincial partner, the OBHF (Ontario Ball Hockey Federation).

We will continue to manage our league in the same manner as it has in the past.  However, while the OBHF is working on its transition and expansion, the Provincial tournaments may be slightly smaller in size for a period of time.  Our selected Provincial teams will now be given the opportunity to qualify for the CBHA Junior Nationals and a group of selected players may even be chosen to compete at the ISBHF Junior World Ball Hockey Championships for Junior Team Canada

To that end, we are pleased to welcome Withrow Park, Vaughan, Mississauga,  Shelburne, New Tecumseth and Kitchener who are also the newest members of the OBHF.

We look forward to the upcoming season which is scheduled to commence on April 18, 2015.

Further information regarding the Provincials and other tournaments will be posted on our website later this week.

We will keep you apprised of matters as they progress.
